Today we are going to learn about classifieds.

Learning objectives,
Students will be able to -
1. recognise the kind of classified ads that appear in the newspaper
2. distinguish between various kinds of classified ads
3. compile information for the ads based on the inputs given
4. write at least 10 different kinds of classified ads


Classified advertising is a form
of advertising which is particularly common in newspapers, online and other periodicals which may be sold or distributed free of charge. Classified advertisements are much cheaper than larger display advertisements used by businesses.

Ads to give houses, bungalows, farmhouses, shops
ACCOMMODATION WANTED
Ads by people looking for house on rent
PG ACCOMMODATION
Ads by owners wanting to give rooms to Paying Guests
MATRIMONIAL
Ads looking for Brides/Bridegrooms

Guidelines for Writing Classified Ads
Classified Ads do not have visuals i.e. not pictures
Are written as 1 continuous paragraph
Only punctuation marks allowed – comma(,) full stop (.)
Information is written using phrases.
AVOID first person PRONOUN- I, ME, MY, WE, US, OURS
Use ruler and pencil to draw the boxes.
