Welcome to today's second English period. Last class we discussed short answer questions. In this period we will discuss long answer questions. You have to write the long answers in your own words by using the given points.

                             
                                                        LONG ANSWER QUESTIONS


1.     What are the dreams of the poor like Sahib- e- Alam and Mukesh? Could these be realized? What is the reality of the situation?


Sahib spend the early years of his life looking for gold in garbage dumps

Parents of these street children have no fixed income.

War against poverty and hunger

No dream except finding the means of survival

Garbage is gold to them

It is their daily bread( means)

Saheb – servant at a tea stall

Loses his freedom

Mukesh – son of a poor bangle maker

Dream to become a motor mechanic

Wants to drive a car

Thinks to join a garage

Garage is far away so he decided to walk

Realizes the reality and tries to overcome it

        2. Firozabad presents a strange paradox. Contrast the beauty of the bangles of Firozabad with the misery of the people who produce them.

Firozabad – centre of India’s glass – blowing industry

Famous for bangles.

Bangles of various colors piled on four wheeled push carts

Bangles are shining and bright

Rainbow coloured bangles

Bangle makers lead miserable life

They don’t know any other work

No courage or money to start other trade

They are in the hands of moneylenders

Poverty and hunger

Not even have one meal a day

Work at hot furnaces makes them blind
