What gave astrologers the greatest surprise of their life while they were
studying the horoscope of the ten day old prince? What was ironic about it?
Answer: When the astrologers were reading the
horoscope of the little prince, they were taken by surprise when this ten-day
old infant asked about the manner of his death. When the chief astrologer told
him that a tiger would be the cause of his death, the baby retorted with
arrogance, “Let the tigers beware!” An infant who was juts ten days old
commanding the astrologer sternly was very ironical here.
Q.2 What led Maharaja to set out on a tiger
hunt?
Answer: The Maharaja knew the old saying that
killing even a cow in self-defence was no sin. So, in order to save his own
life and prove the astrological prediction wrong, he started shooting all his
enemies, i.e. the tigers, he found in the forests of his state and nearby
regions.
Q.3 What is the matter of vital importance
the author wants to disclose at the beginning of the story? Why?
Answer:The author wants to disclose in the very
beginning the fact that the Tiger king has reached the final abode of all
living creatures, i.e. the king is dead. The author wants to clarify this
matter because he is sure that everyone who reads him would naturally want to
meet this man of indomitable courage face to face.
Q. 4 What kind of life was enjoyed by the
crown prince Jung Bahadur till he reached the age of twenty?
Answer:The royal prince (Jung Jung Bahadur) enjoyed
a luxurious life amidst the Englishmen. He grew taller and stronger day by day.
He was brought up like the Crown Prince of any other Indian state. The boy
drank the milk of an English cow, was infact looked after by an English nanny,
grew up by watching English movies and was also tutored by an Englishman.
Q.5 Describe the efforts made by the tiger
king to achieve his target of killing a hundred tigers?
Answer:The Tiger King made numerous efforts to fulfill his target of killing a hundred tigers. He stayed in the forest
for many days. He fired many of his officers
for not getting him tigers.
He had to spend a ransom of three lakh rupees to impress the British official
and discourage him from killing the tigers. He also married a girl with a
selfish motive of killing tigers as the tigers inhabitant at his kingdom had
gone extinct.
Q.6 What all did Maharaja do to realise his
ambition of killing a hundred tigers?
Answer:The Maharaja pursued his ambition with single minded
devotion. He vowed that he would attend to all other matters only after killing the hundred tigers. Sometimes he had to fight a tiger with his bare hands. But each time
the Maharaja proved victorious by killing the beast. He completely
devoted himself in the process of achieving his target.
